Research title: Understanding how life jacket type affects survivability in river-flow drowning accidents
Reason for award: This study examined representative types of life jackets and verified how the human body floats in flowing water when worn, thereby clarifying which types are suitable for rivers. By combining pool-based performance verification tests for life jackets with performance evaluations using numerical analysis, the study assessed safety in flowing water and produced findings of practical importance. The findings provide scientific evidence for life jacket certification standards and contribute to the prevention of future drowning accidents; the work is highly commendable.
